breathing

We walked to the river this afternoon. It was warm, but the forest was cool and green and fragrant like the leaves as I breathed in great droughts of air, one by one, slowly, tasting each like apples from the orchard up the hill. We came meandering down in blue jeans, to the soft hum of the cicadas, and words came out of our mouth [none of which I remember] [all of which felt sweet on our tongues].
